Re: 1 week to transfer deadline, how have we done?
All the SPIVS are trying to do. Is to polish us up the best (And cheapest.) They can. Then get the biggest bucks they can. When they can get 100% return on the club and stadium. They won’t push for top four in regards of squad size and players fees. (Although this season may be the best chance to break into the top six stranglehold.) But they will do enough so we don’t end up like Newcastle.

Then we cannot use them to complain about spending to this point. They have spent the majority of their money so far this season on players they had on loan. (They might have got one for the future in Cutrone but I would not count on him immediately after losing his place in Serie A last season)

And have let fair bit of depth upfront go. (Were playing Gibbs - White up front during preseason pre-Cutrone.)

True, just saying he is one in a line.

Allardyce seemed to try for people in that position - Kouyate, Song, Diame, Diarra - but we got upset at him for just signing big Africans (or favourites or both.)

No need to apologise it’s just a forum.

Exactly Eric, they (Wolves) are intending to compete at the highest level possible, unlike ours who want to just stay under the radar of actual longterm financial commitment to compete.

I swear these pair don't really want us to do well in cups as winners of domestic cups usually get their squad torn apart afterwards and the only possible way to stop them leaving......

The change is expected to benefit most clubs, though particularly those who regularly find themselves just below the main competing pack in the Premier League.

Those sides who finished last season in seventh to 10th place, for example, will now find themselves will more freedom to bring in players with the added bonus of being able to offer more enticing wages.

Last season those aforementioned position finishes included the likes of Wolves, Everton, Leicester and West Ham.

Re: 1 week to transfer deadline, how have we done?
All these comparisons to Wolves is like comparing apples with oranges.

Wolves' board seem to know exactly what they are doing and what they want to achieve. They have a very savvy business plan. We on the other hand have a couple of spivs with a scatter-gun approach and are only out for themselves. We are, as usual, a car crash of a club at boardroom level and none of this will change whilst they are in charge.

I wouldn't even trust Sullivan to sell us to somebody that could take the club forward if it meant he wasn't getting a good deal.

Moyes signed Hugill

That is where his judgemental attributes were at

it's not a massive change for west ham in the grand scheme of things.

The main FFP rules in relation to spending the club turnover rules remain the same. You can go mad with wages but not the transfer fees.

it's any wage increase of £7m

in simple terms, as an example that's giving players a contract the size of Chicha

J.Riddle 4:10 Fri Aug 2
Re: 1 week to transfer deadline, how have we done?
Wages DON’T need to be kept under £7m per year. So no restrictions on wages. Massive change.

This is also a massive change.

Now clubs do not have to fund certain wage rises by using commercial deals.

So can invest or borrow what they like to fund wages.

Re: 1 week to transfer deadline, how have we done?
So a portion of its FFP, not all of it, has been eliminated by the Premier League.

It would actually have nothing to do with UEFA FFP.

So I think we were both off, Riddle.

J.Riddle 4:04 Fri Aug 2
Re: 1 week to transfer deadline, how have we done?
Ah thought you were referring to individual players receiving £7m? Should have said combined, still the changes are less prohibitive.

Re: 1 week to transfer deadline, how have we done?
literally in the article's main sub headings

Premier League hand clubs transfer window boost as they scrap inhibiting Financial Fair Play rule that forced clubs to keep wage-bill increases under £7m each year
From July 1, 2019, new rulings have been applied to the football transfer window

An element of Financial Fair Play ruling has been dropped, in order to help sides

Teams were previously limited on wages by Short Term Cost Control (STCC)

Now clubs do not have to fund certain wage rises by using commercial deals

Milan’s misdemeanours were historic before 1st July 2019 new rules. Hence FFP was no longer in force for ALL PL clubs this summer window.

Thought FFP had been scrapped?

FFP is still in place

the only part that got scrapped was the rule regarding wages and players earning over £7m a year

Re: 1 week to transfer deadline, how have we done?
Obiang should be replaced, whether it will happen I doubt unless another Sanchez type comes in on loan.

Don’t forget the WAGES, they won’t work for nothing you know.
